You know that saying - "The camera never lies"? Well, that pithy concept was never more evident than when it came to American Idol season 10 contestant Jacob "Runaway Ego Train" Lusk. He was CLEARLY a very unlikeable fellow.
SEE: American Idol then and now
Oh he tried to hide it as best he could - especially after utterly revealing himself in those insane comments of his a few weeks back - but it broke through as it always does. The studio audiences, we've heard, completely disdained him. Jimmy Iovine, without a shadow of a doubt, hated him. The home audience caught on over time and sent him to the bottom of the pack for several weeks. So now, the show's producers, the media, and Jimmy can all stop pretending and just admit that the guy was a total jerk. Because last night he was voted off the show in the best result of the season to date.
CHECK OUT: Casey Abrams voted off American Idol
It was the best because the voters absolutely nailed it this time with Lauren "Look At Me, I'm Orange" Alaina joining Jacob in the bottom two. She seemed to be living an inexplicably charmed existence too, thanks to her hyper-texting tweener bopper fan base, but finally her dreadful prom night karaoke performance was enough to put her in trouble. Oh how we wish Simon Cowell had been back on the judging panel to comment on her version of his fave song "Unchained Melody". He would have been merciless, as he should have been. She was terrible. Terr. I. Ble. But of course all our current Lame-o-Panel did was heap lavish praise as always. At least they gave Jacob a bit of a hard time for his ridiculous version of "No Air". For our part we're just so glad not to have to have another week of watching his overwrought histrionics. Even after being voted off the dude couldn't stop himself from mangling his farewell song and claiming himself as the new Luther Vandross. NEVER. GONNA. HAPPEN.
